When serious mountain climbers decide to scale the heights of Mount Everest, they do not do the entire journey by themselves. The first third of the mountain they are led by a guide, a Sherpa, (Sherpas are a race of people but the name has become synonymous with the men and women who do this for a living), who knows the terrain and the environment better than anyone, because it’s where they have lived for hundreds of years. With their help you learn how to predict what might happen after they have left you on your own for the rest of the climb. They give you an idea of what to bring for food, water, clothing, shelter and generally prepare you for the rough conditions ahead.

Deciding what type of instrument would best suit your needs should take into account what activities you partake in on a regular basis. At Pinnacle Hearing Centre, we do not consider it our job to tell you what you need, but instead, by asking questions about what you do, we can offer you several choices and guide you toward making the right choice for your lifestyle. A person who is basically homebound will not have the same needs as someone who, for example, climbs mountains; just as the person who plays bridge or canasta several days a week, will not require the same hearing capabilities as those who attend a lot of talks and lectures.

Knowing what would be helpful for the bulk of your activities saves you from spending a lot of time returning for re-programming and adjustments. That way you’re on your to better hearing faster than by just ordering either the least or most expensive hearing instruments.

Let us be your Sherpa through the veritable wilderness of hearing aid misinformation and we will ensure you hear better for years to come.
